14-04-2008- THE COUNCIL OF -A MEZQUITA-, FIRST IN SCREENING THE ARABIC CINEMA CYCLE OF CINEMAS DIXITAIS

The council of “A Mezquita”, which name in Spanish means “Mosque”, cult and learning places in the Arabic culture, turns out to be first council of Galicia in programming the 4º Cycle of CINEMAS DIXITAIS dedicated to the Arabic Cinema, this cycle is organized in collaboration with the International Euro Arab Film Festival AMAL. This new proposal of CINEMAS DIXITAIS, will allow knowing another aesthetic and way cinematographic expression and, on the other hand, to visualize and understand its culture, political and social forms of life, conflicts, etc. The council of “A Mezquita”, located in the southwest of the province of Ourense and front door to Galicia from Castile and Portugal, will be council that initiates the program of projections of productions coming from Arab countries: Palestine, Lebanon, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia.... There are many Galician cities where the presence of Arab immigrants is remarkable. A clear example is Xinzo de Limia that, apart from this cycle, has programmed one week of Arab Cinema for the month of July.
