7-04-2008 A DOCUMENTARY SHOOTED IN GAZA STRIP BY A PALESTINIAN DIRECTOR HAS CROSSED THE ISRAELIAN SIEGE TO PARTICIPATE IN AMAL 08

Sometimes the simple fact of seeing a film in AMAL is almost a miracle. A clear example of this is the documentary "Gaza, another type of tears" of the Palestinian director Abdelsalam Shehadeh that has recently arrived to participate in the next edition of AMAL. In addition to all the difficulties that this young film director had to run through only for shooting this documentary (difficulties for obtaining from the Israeli authorities the shooting permissions, more difficulties to obtain the material and equipment for shooting, zones where it is not allowed to shoot...) After all this odyssey, it is not either allowed to them to send the tape to us via courrier, since for security reasons those companies do not operate in Gaza. Therefore, the only way to get the film out of Gaza is to know someone who has permission to enter and leave Gaza so he can bring the tape in his luggage. Finally, if the film gets an award in the Festival, it won’t be easy for Abdelsalam to travel here to receive his prize, since he needs exit permission and getting it is a new odyssey.
